an interview w/ Pamela...
d.p.-Pamela, what drew you to
interior design? Can you tell me a little about your history?
Pamela-
Yes, I have always loved art and houses. Interior design is a
hybrid of the two. I was actually trained in languages and
business and lived in Italy and France in high school and college.
I learned a lot about classical design and architecture in Italy and
about style and accessorizing in France. After graduate school, I
worked in a public relations and media job but still had a keen
interest in design. I began to use my vacation time to go to New
York and take design classes and seminars all over the country. I
decided to open Room Redo several years ago and have loved it ever
since. Although I am more of a design consultant, I have had some
excellent training and a good amount of experience and absolutely
love helping my clients make the most of their style.
◦
d.p.-Do you cater to the
commercial or residential market or both?
Pamela-
I do more residential work but I love doing small commercial jobs.
When I work with commercial clients I have a lot of added value
since I have strong business and marketing skills and a solid
background in p.r. I offer more than just color and
furniture selections, we review logos, discuss marketing strategies
and how to create a brand and image for the commercial client. Of
course, we love our residential clients too and work with them
through many happy family events.
◦
d.p.-Who is your ideal client?
Pamela-
We love busy families and busy couples. Room Redo can work with any
budget and we enjoy being creative with the different clients that
we attract. We make it fast and easy for the client. Single men
are also excellent clients because we creative comfortable and easy
to maintain homes for them that work perfectly for their
lifestyles.
Since we have such a friendly and
affordable approach, we can work with virtually anyone from someone
who lives in a small apartment to large family homes that need a
pulled-together look.
◦
d.p.-Anything you'd like to add?
Pamela-Thank
you for this opportunity. I have really enjoyed working with you
and various new artists around Houston. I hope we can continue to
foster a thriving artist community that will benefit the entire
Houston area and certainly make our design projects more exciting
and more creative.
